Cirque Du Soleil

So we spent the day at the Venetian and had dinner at the Irish pub there. The food at the pub is great and they have all sorts of western food. The fish and chips are amazing (though i did pull a bone out of my fish. Guess you can take the fish and chips out of Europe, but you can't take the Chinese out of fish and chips in China.

Tonight, i got the Guinness beef stew. For some reason in China, they love to make there soup with puff pastry's on top. I don't exactly know why this is, but perhaps it is to make up for the fact that there is nothing filling about there soups or how boring the tastes are. None the less, i present my puff pastry.... i mean soup.

After dinner, we headed over to Cirque Du Soleil to see there latest show "Zaia" You can never go wrong with Cirque, they put on some of the most amazing theatrical shows in the world. Who knows, i may one day be working for them when i get out to Vegas. They do a great mix of circus acts, with some freaky bending people, and theatrical experience all in one. Since you will probably never go to Macau or see this one show in particular, i will go into some detail about it.

The show opens with alot of clowns wondering around the theatre. They interact with the audience, being very nosy. At one point, pre-show mind you, one of the clowns goes up to a lady, unclasps her bra, and steals it. Quite funny to be watching this.

Then the show opens, a rope lowers in to the stage floor and the clowns begin to pull on it. Every time the clown pulls on it, it acts as a light switch causing the lights in the theatre/stage to react. Finally he pulls on it to hard and it starts to fall. It is over 500 ft of rope, great theatrical moment of 500 ft of rope falling to the stage.

The red "orb" you see here, floats all the way into the audience and around the theatre. If you aren't familiar with Cirque, you should know that they put millions and millions of dollars into putting a show on. The biggest cost is that they build each theatre just to fit one show. That means that the entire theatre is show specific and can accommodate different elements. If you wanna get into Cirque, GO SEE "KA"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just amazing!!!
From this point on we get launched into a semi space/surreal experience of flying acrobats, floating things into the audience, trampling acts, and such.
The scene below, is a rigging and balance masterpiece. As you can see, there are just 2 performers, and they are being held up by one rigging line. They do all sorts of balancing acts in mid-air and one pole. It is unreal!
And if you are going to mount a show in Asia, you have to have parasols!!!
